“EDITING IS THE TRANSFORMATION OF CHANCE INTO DESTINY”
- JEAN LUC GODARD
Hi, I'm Rachel. Video editor, London-based, North Idaho-raised, and yes, those are two very different places.
I've been cutting things professionally for eight years. I started my own production company, Adair Media Group, back in 2018 and never really stopped, which means I've done the lot. Branded campaigns for Selfridges. Two years shooting and cutting everything for a kitchen brand. A multicam podcast series for a digital studio in London. Web and ad assets for a games brand. Motion graphics, colour, sound, subtitles, delivery specs, the whole unglamorous pipeline that nobody puts on a showreel but everybody needs done properly.
Somewhere in the middle of that I went back to school. I'm graduating from the London Film Academy this October with a BA in Filmmaking, and I've spent the last few years on the film side too: editing, directing, first AD-ing, sound designing, and generally saying yes to things before checking my calendar.
What I actually love is dialogue. Two people in a room, one of them avoiding the point. I'll spend an hour on four frames if it makes the pause land, and I'd argue that hour is the entire job.
Right now I'm editing a documentary about attention spans, which is deeply ironic given how long it's taken, and directing a comedy short about modern dating, which is somewhere between a passion project and a cry for help.
What I'm looking for: editor work. Narrative, documentary, branded, broadcast, I'm not precious about the format. I want to be in a team, cutting properly, learning from people who are better than me. Fast turnarounds don't scare me and neither do unsociable hours. Eight years of running my own thing means I turn up organised, I take notes without ego, and I get it delivered.
If you're making something, I'd love to hear about it. Genuinely, tell me everything.

Short Films
The work I care about most. Dialogue-led, character-first, the kind of scene that lives or dies on where you cut. Echoes of Duty has picked up festival selections, and I Saw an Ankle is my LFA graduation film, currently in festival rotations, and should be available soon.

Commercial
Brand work with an actual sense of humour. These are the game videos I cut for Bubblegum Stuff, where the whole job is timing: land the joke, get out, keep it moving. Editing comedy is unforgiving and I love it.
UGC
Fast turnaround vertical content for Daviness Hair, Comfrt and Dyson Airwrap. Shot and cut by me, built to work in the first two seconds, and versioned out across platforms from the same rushes.
